ALEX
DARUS
Digital Journalist
About Me
Alex is a reporter at the Provincetown Banner at the very tip of Cape Cod. She reports for the weekly newspaper and daily website about local government, tourism, marine life, climate change, food, entertainment and more in three towns on the Outer Cape. Additionally, her work is featured in the Cape Codder and the Cape Cod Times.

Aside from that, she freelances for Us Weekly, cleveland.com and Alternative Press magazine. For cleveland.com, she writes restaurant reviews, dining guides, food listicles and more. She also works on the team that creates the annual A-List Dining Guide, and her work has been featured in The Plain Dealer.

Alex creates weekly lists and quizzes about music, TV, movies, tech, food and more for a targeted audience interested in the punk/alternative scene for Alternative Press. She also writes aggregated news stories on a tight dead line, and covers most major award shows for the website. She also posts stories to social media, including a Facebook page with more than 1.2 million likes.

She has been writing TV reviews for Us Weekly since she was a freshman at Ohio University. Alex recaps popular shows like Grey's Anatomy, Keeping Up With The Kardashians, The Masked Singer and more on a 30-minute deadline.

Alex graduated from Ohio University in December 2018 with a Bachelor of Science in Journalism and a minor in English. However, she spent her last semester at Universidad de Salamanca studying Spanish language and culture.

At OU, she was a founding member of the Scripps Hispanic Network and is currently a member of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists, attending yearly conferences.

Alex is passionate about food and cooking, and hopes to pursue a career as a full-time food journalist in a major city. When she isn't working or experimenting with a new recipe, she's probably watching too much reality TV, hiking the beautiful trails on Cape Cod or hanging out in a local brewery.
